Community cats, sometimes known as “feral cats,” are our outdoor feline friends who live in our neighborhoods but don’t belong to any one person.

Today, we call them community cats to show they belong in our neighborhoods. These cats remind us to be kind and look out for all creatures around us. By helping community cats, we create a better place for everyone.

The Animal Defense League of Texas will be performing FREE sterilizations of community cats trapped within San Antonio city limits.* All surgeries include a rabies vaccine, FVRCP vaccine and ear notchEach cat or kitten must arrive in a humane trap (covered with a towel or sheet, one cat per trap). Community cats brought in pet carriers will NOT be accepted. ADL will accept a limit of 3 cats per trapper. Community cats are accepted at a first come first serve basis. Dates may be subject to change.

Trappers must enter through the hospital lobby for drop off and pick up.

Drop off is at 8:00-8:30AM and pick up occurs same day from 3:30-4:00PM. All cats MUST be picked up by 5:00PM or late fees may be charged.

Traps can be rented from our Adoption Center located at 11300 Nacogdoches Road, subject to availability. A $150 refundable deposit is required to rent the trap, and the price to rent is just $1/day. Please call (210)655-1481 ext. 100 for questions related to renting traps/availability.

*Trappers who reside outside of the 10 COSA city districts, are eligible for services through the San Antonio Feral Cat Coalition (SAFCC) and will be charged a $25 trapper fee at drop-off. To be eligible for feral spay/neuter through the SAFCC, trappers must have attended the SAFCC’s TNR Class and reside within Bexar County. ADL will verify addresses upon arrival.
