 We urgently need foster volunteers! On average, these pets need fostering for 2-3 weeks and ADL provides all supplies, food and medical care that's needed while you foster a pet. This sweet girl is Phyllis, and she came to ADL weighing .07 pounds with a HUGE swollen front paw that looked like something had been wrapped around it. The paw was cold and devitalized. Our amazing veterinarian team performed the operation and amputated her front leg. Phyllis is the smallest and youngest pet that has received an amputation in ADL's history. Champion was brought to the Animal Defense League by a Good Samaritan after he was hit by a car. At just a few months old, Champion was having difficulty breathing and was in extreme distress. Our medical team quickly realized that Champion’s lungs had collapsed due to a build-up of air around his lungs and they couldn’t expand to allowing Champion to breathe properly.
