Pet Costume Safety Tips

Pet Costume Safety Tips!

Yes, we know, pets look adorable when they’re in cute costumes. However, your pet’s safety and comfort should be first priority! Please keep these precautions in mind when choosing a costume for your pet.

Check for choking hazards.

Make sure there are no choking hazards on the costume such as dangling items or anything that may come off easily that your pet may put in their mouth.

Check for hazards that could cause injury.

Stay away from glitter, toxic paint, or any material such as wire that can possibly cause injury to your pet.

Can your pet easily move around in the costume?

Your pet should be able to walk around without tripping. Make sure the costume is not blocking their eyes

Do not overheat your pet.

Make sure your pet is wearing a costume with light-weight breathable material. You don’t want your pet to overheat, especially on sunny days.

Is your pet comfortable with the costume?

Try the costume on at home first to see if your pet is okay with wearing a costume. Some pets absolutely do not like costumes, so check for signs of discomfort and anxiety. If they’re panting or acting unusual, then a costume is not the best option for your pet.

Never leave a pet unattended in a costume.

It’s important to always monitor your pets while they’re in costume. You never know how they’ll react. They could also get their costume stuck on something. Always keep them in your sight.
