La historia de Swim

When Nadar arrived at ADL in July alongside her mom, Splash, and her littermates, the odds were stacked against them. The entire family tested positive for parvovirus, a dangerous and often deadly illness—especially for puppies. Several became critically ill, but thanks to ADL’s veterinary team, the generosity of our donors, and the devotion of our foster volunteers, every single one survived.

But Swim’s fight wasn’t over yet.

She soon became dangerously anemic and required an emergency blood transfusion to stay alive. In a powerful full‑circle moment, her lifesaving donor was her very own mom. Just when Swim seemed to be turning a corner, she faced yet another challenge: a distemper diagnosis. Once again, her foster family stepped up without hesitation. “After all she’d been through, there was no way we were going to let her stay in a kennel,” her foster mom shared.

Known today as Marley, this once‑fragile puppy has completely transformed. She’s thriving, playful, and full of joy. Her foster describes her as a “funny little thing” who loves water, ice cubes, squeaky toys, and rolling over for belly rubs. “She was so sick and scared at first,” her foster said. “Now she’s full of life, running through the yard, excited to greet us every morning, and learning that the world isn’t so scary after all.”

For Marley’s foster family, being part of her recovery was just as meaningful. “We do medical fostering because it’s what we love,” her foster mom explained. “Helping pets heal and watching them get stronger fills your heart in a way nothing else can.”

💛 Today, Swim, now Marley, has her happily‑ever‑after. She has been adopted into a loving forever home, where she’ll be cherished for the rest of her life.
