April, formerly known as Owlbear, found her forever home with Joseph and his family—and quickly became the sweetest little addition to their pack.
“April has developed into the best cuddle buddy,” Joseph shared. “She loves climbing, sleeping, and definitely snacking.” Her favorite spot is right on Joseph’s chest while he rests, where she can settle in close and purr the day away.
April also has a funny habit of keeping tabs on the kitchen. She knows exactly where the pantry is, and whenever Joseph walks in, she is right there to investigate. “She is curious as to what I’m doing and if she can have a bite,” he said.
Her name holds an especially heartfelt meaning. Joseph’s first cat, Miles, passed away last August. April was adopted in April—the same month as Miles’ birthday—so Joseph chose her name as a tribute to him. In so many ways, she reminds him of his beloved first cat.
“They have a lot of similar mannerisms,” Joseph said. “They’re chatty, have loud purrs, and love sleeping by my side.” With a touch of orange in her fur, April feels like a loving reminder of Miles. “It feels like it’s Miles sending her to me.”
Today, April shares her home with two corgi siblings, Howie and Harper. The three pets get along wonderfully and have made their home even happier, livelier, and more complete.
“Now our family has three pets and feels like the family is complete,” Joseph shared.
We’re so grateful April found her way to a family who loves her so deeply—and that her story carries a little piece of Miles with it. 🐾
