The Animal Defense League (ADL) provides spay and neuter services for owned cats and dogs as well as feral cats.  Each animal must weigh at least two pounds before being accepted.  These services are provided at our hospital, which is located at 11215 Iota Drive, San Antonio 78217.  A map of our hospital location can be obtained by selecting the following linkhttp://mapq.st/1dkvau5.

Owned Cats and Dogs:

Services for owned pets are provided on an appointment basis only.  Neuter and spay surgeries are performed Monday through Wednesday and Fridays for owned pets.  To make an appointment for one of these days please call 210-655-1481 ext. 106 between the hours of 10:00am and 3:00pm on Monday – Friday and between the hours of 9am and Noon on Saturday.  No voice mails are accepted.  A $25 non-refundable surgery deposit will be required prior to an appointment being scheduled. Please ask the ADL Hospital staff for details. Each pet owner with an appointment must arrive between 7am and 9am.  Dogs may be brought to us with a leash or cage.  Each cat must be brought in a cat carrier and each cat must be in its own carrier.  Pickup occurs from 4pm – 5pm on the day of the appointment. There is no need to qualify for our regular Low Cost spays/neuters performed at our Clinic. All animals must weigh at least two pounds in order to undergo a surgical procedure.

FREE Spay and Neuter Surgeries (Zip Code Limited):

Due to a City grant award from Animal Care Services, ADL is able to offer FREE cat and dog sterilization surgeries to residents living in the following zip codes: 78201, 78202, 78203, 78204, 78207, 78208, 78210, 78211, 78212, 78214, 78220, 78221, 78222, 78223, 78225, 78226, 78227,  78241, 78242, 78252, 78263. Appointments are required and restrictions do apply.  To make an appointment for your pet, please call 210-655-1481 ext. 106 between the hours of 10:00am and 3:00pm on Monday – Friday and between the hours of 9am and Noon on Saturday.  No voice mails are accepted.  Pets must be currently vaccinated against rabies and proof provided. If pets are not vaccinated against rabies, ADL will vaccinate pets at a cost of $12 per pet. Funding is limited. Feral Cat Spay and Neuter Information:

Feral cat neuter and spay services are provided on a walk-in basis Monday through Wednesday and Fridays.  No appointment is required.  The daily limit for Monday, Wednesday and Friday is 8 cats, and on Tuesdays the limit will be 5 cats and the individual limit is 2 cats per person on these days.  Each cat or kitten must arrive in a covered trap and only one cat or kitten is allowed per trap.  Feral cats are accepted between 7am and 9am.  Pickup occurs on the same day between 4pm and 5pm.

Best Friends Animal Society provides vouchers for residents of zip codes: 78201, 207, 210, 213, 221, 223, 227, 228, 229, 237, 242, 245, 250, 251 that will qualify them for free spay and neuter services for outdoor stray cats.   • Do not feed your pet any type of food after 10pm the day before surgery; water is okay. Arrival time the day of surgery is between 7am and 9am. Pickup time will be between 4pm and 5pm the day of surgery. Proof of current rabies vaccination in the form of a vaccination certificate showing date given and re-vaccination date is required or a rabies vaccination will be administered and charged to the pet owner.
