ADL’s 2018 5K Run & Kids 1K | Trick-Or-Trot

It’s that time of year again! Lace up those dusty running shoes and get Fido prepared to race!

The Animal Defense League will be hosting our 4^th Annual ADL 5K Run and Kid’s 1K Trick-or-Trot on Saturday, October 20^th at 8:30 am. The race will be held at the McAllister Park Trailhead, 13102 Jones Maltsberger Rd, San Antonio, Texas 78247. Candy stations will be placed along the course of the Kid’s 1K until your little one has finished with a bag full of treats. The kid’s race will begin 30 minutes prior to the 5k. There will also be pet related vendors and a costume contest for children and pets. Pet owners and kids must be registered participants to join the costume contest. This is a dog-friendly event! All dogs are welcome to participate with proof of an up-to-date rabies vaccination. Make sure to both wear your costume and be ready for lots of furry fun!

ADL 5k

It’s $40 to run in the 5K for adults. Every runner age 13 or older will receive a runner’s packet with race tag, timing chip, water bottle, and a t-shirt. As of October 10^th, shirt sizes cannot be guaranteed and are subject to availability. (Don’t fret, though! We ordered a lot of shirts, so you will probably get the size requested…we just can’t guarantee it at this late date. Thank you!)

Kid’s Trick-or-Trot 1K

The Kid’s Trick-or-Trot 1k is a fun-filled way for children ages 12 and under to get active and trick-or-treat at the same time! Candy stations will be placed along the course until your little one has finished with a bag full of treats. The kid’s race will begin 30 minutes prior to the 5k and registration is $15.00. These younger runners will also receive a runner’s bag with a water bottle and race t-shirt.

Here are a few more reminder details:

Kid’s Trick-or-Trot 1K @ 8:30am. Camp Gladiator will lead warm up for kids at 8:20am.
ADL 5K @ 9:00am. Camp Gladiator will lead warm up for 5K runners at 8:40am.
5K award presentation will take place at 10:00am.
Kid’s and pet’s costume contests will take place at 10:30am. Pet-owners and kids must be race registrants in order to participate the costume contests.
All dogs must have proof of an up-to-date rabies vaccination to participate in the 5K, 1K, and/or costume contest.
Packet pick-up and on-site registration will be available at the park prior to race if you are unable to make one of the advance packet pick-up dates/times.

We will be meeting at McAllister Park Trailhead. The simplest way to get to the Trailhead is through the Buckhorn Rd. entrance off of Wurzbach Pkwy. Please see map above, the purple line represents the Buckhorn Rd. entrance and its path to the Trailhead and the tan line represents the Jones Maltsberger Rd. entrance and its path to the Trailhead.
