Amora’s Story
Meet Amora: Proof That Tiny Can Still Be Mighty
When Amora arrived at ADL, she weighed less than 3 pounds. She was gasping for air, too weak to stand, and battling a heartbreaking list of challenges: severe pneumonia, extreme dehydration, anemia, parasites, and a serious condition called megaesophagus, which makes it almost impossible to swallow food without choking.
Her X-rays revealed just how critical her condition was—her throat and stomach were dangerously swollen, making every breath a struggle. But even then, Amora wasn’t ready to give up. And neither were we.
Thanks to emergency medical care, 24/7 monitoring, upright feedings, and the constant love of a dedicated foster, Amora slowly began to turn a corner. Within a week, she was standing. By week two, she was wagging her tail.
Now, she’s gaining strength every day—and so much of her spunky puppy personality is starting to shine.
“Amora’s a fighter—she doesn’t just want to live, she wants to thrive,” her foster mom shared. “She’s full of personality, loves everyone (including my Great Dane and all the cats!), and she’s already learning sit, touch, and recall. With her special feedings and a lot of love, she’s doing so well. I really think she’s going to make an amazing little adventure dog one day.”
Amora is living proof that with the right care and a second chance, anything is possible.
