Adopt Hondo - Hurricane Harvey Dog

more about me

Hello, I’m Hondo! I’m one of the remaining Hurricane Harvey dogs at ADL. I’ve been searching for the perfect home since September of last year. Unfortunately, I haven’t had the best of luck in finding a forever home but I refuse to give up! When I first came to ADL I was so bashful that I would hide in my kennel. I’m trying my best to be more brave! I don’t hide so much in my kennel anymore. The staff here has been patient with me and they’ve shown me how nice and caring people can be. I already trust the familiar faces around here and I know that I can learn to trust more people too! I’m just looking for someone who’ll give me that chance to be their best friend. It will take some time for me to get to know you. I love routines so I’d prefer to stay on the same daily routine away from too much action. I like to run, I sometimes “talk”, and I know how to strut for the girls! So if you have a calm female dog at home, we can be friends even faster! If you’re willing to help me be more brave and have a calm home for me, then let’s get to know each other better. I will be happy for someone to give me that chance!

staff's description:

Have you ever wanted your very own epic or Byronic hero? Do you enjoy reading novels and the newspaper while enjoying a cup of coffee on your back porch? Are you looking for someone with a cat-like personality, but are more of a dog person? If any of these tidbits make your heart zing, Hondo may be the man for you. This handsome gentleman has a storied past worthy of the most notable heroes in literature. Just like the fabled quests of Odysseus, King Arthur, Beowulf, and Harry Potter, this boy is on a journey of his own. Included in his saga are being an Outlander on the streets of Lake Jackson, TX and surviving Hurricane Harvey. His Holy Grail? A quiet, forever home where he can relax and have no worries. Like most Romantic heroes, he is a bit of a recluse who takes a while to open up, so several visits are required to earn his trust. While he may appear moody and introspective, Hondo is full of mischief, humor, love, and would look great in a tartan or tweed collar. He has a great sense of adventure and love of the outdoors, though due to being treated for heartworms, his Husky-like coat, and dislike for thunderstorms, it is best that he be a mostly indoor dog. Among this sometimes-vocal, brooding soul’s loves in life are Kong toys and treats, (specifically the savory kind), sticking to his routine, and showboating for the ladies. While he has never fought the Dark Lord, he is as brave as the Boy Wizard himself. Please come see us to meet your own Gryffindor.
