Help Cuddly Tobias
Tobias needs your help!
This sweet puppy came to ADL with his litter-mates on 5/18/19. He was approximately 6-weeks-old at that time (eating gruel/canned food). On evaluation, our veterinarian noted that Tobias had a continuous, loud grade, heart murmur. An echocardiogram (ultrasound of the heart) was subsequently scheduled to screen for congenital heart defects.
An echo was performed, which confirmed a patent ductus arteriosus (PDA). This is a congenital heart defect that allows abnormal blood flow through the heart and lungs.
The abnormal blood flow will subsequently cause heart enlargement and congestive heart failure (if not repaired). The good news – Texas A&M University College of Veterinary Medicine has generously offered to occlude the defect! They have offered to provide half of the funding for the surgery, which costs a total of around $2,500. Post-operatively, Tobias will be expected to have a normal quality of life!
Please help us meet our goal of raising $2,500 for Tobias with a donation today!
